    >IBM Rational Requisite Pro V7.1 for Evaluation Multilingual Multiplatform.
    >Rational RequisitePro 15 Day Evaluation Key.

    3. Instalador.

Pulsamos en el texto de «Instalar IBM Rational Software Architect Standart Edition«
    //Nota: si ya tenemos instalado el «Installation Manager» podemos saltarnos los pasos 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8 y 9.

    >>Volver al índice de contenidos.

    4. Preparación de la Instalación.

    10. Licencia no encontrada.

    Plataformas:
Red Hat Entrprs Linux (RHEL) Dsktp, Red Hat Entrprs Linx RHEL Base Srvr, SUSE Linux Enterprise Desktop(SLED), SUSE Linux Enterprise Server (SLES), Windows Server 2003, Windows Server 2008, Windows Vista Business, Windows Vista Enterprise, Windows Vista Ultimate, Windows XP Professional.

    Idiomas:
Chinese Simplified, Chinese Traditional, English International, French, German, Hungarian, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese Brazilian, Spanish.

    Dicho esto seleccionamos el Idioma.

    >>Volver al índice de contenidos.

    24. Paquetes a Instalar.

In this tutorial we learn how to install Rational RequisitePro and Rational Software Architect. We will show every step of the way to try not to confuse anybody. The first thing is that we´re going to do is to make a quick summary of the applications that We´ll install:

IBM Rational RequisitePro is a program that according to their creators: «is a requirements and use case management tool for project teams to improve the communication of project goals, enhance collaborative development, reduce project risk and increase application quality before deployment.». The fact is, that the higher communication and management requirements are, it is important that those who implement the solution fully understand the objectives and goals, specifications, etc. Rational RequisitePro allows a good requirements organization for any project.

-According to IBM Rational Software Architect: «Provides a design and development support for integrated model-driven development with UML«. It is in fact a development tool that can unify all aspects of design and software development, review and monitor the structure of Java applications and develop applications more productively, and so on and so for.

    Let´s get started.

    1. First Steps on RRP.

First we have to obtain the program from the official website of IBM. For this we need to be logged in and then follow this link: http://www14.software.ibm.com/webapp/download/search.jsp?pn=Rational+RequisitePro and selected the one that says «Rational RequisitePro» which is a version 7.1. Trial. Once there we will have to fill out a simple form about the reasons for the download, something about your company, etc.. Now, we must select 2 important things, one is the program itself, and the other It´s the file that we will use for licensing the application:
    > IBM Rational Requisite Pro V7.1 for Evaluation Multilingual Multiplatform.
    > Rational RequisitePro 15 Day Evaluation Key.
We can use either a Java-based Download Manager or download it directly as a normal file.

    >> Go Back to Index.

    2. Select Language.

Once the download is completed, we have to decompress the files and look for the Installer (installer of IBM) and select the language.

    >> Go Back to Index.

    3. Installer.

Click the text «Install IBM Rational Software Architect Standard Edition»
    / / Note: If you already have installed the «Installation Manager» can skip steps 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8 and 9

    >> Go Back to Index.

    4. Preparing for installation.

At this time, the preparation of the installation will start.

    >> Go Back to Index.

    5. Package Selection.

In the next window choose: «Version 1.3.2».

    >> Go Back to Index.

    6. License Agreement.

     Accept the License.

    >> Go Back to Index.

    7. Install Folder.

Please select where you want to install the program, making sure that you have enough space.

    >> Go Back to Index.

    8. Review.

Review the information and press the Install button.

    >> Go Back to Index.

    9. Proper Installation.

And if there was no error you will see the following screen.

    >> Go Back to Index.

    10. License not found.

The new window that appears is not a bug, is that no license was found and you must launch the Key Manager by clicking the button «Launch License Key Administrator«.

    >> Go Back to Index.

    11. License Key Administrator.

That Administrator has the following aspect.

    >> Go Back to Index.

    12. Import License.

Now you must import the license file we that downloaded from the IBM Web, doing this.

    >> Go Back to Index.

    13. UPD.

The particular file is a file extension «.upd»

    >> Go Back to Index.

    14. License Import.

Now you have to import (you can have multiple licenses at the same time), by clicking on the button «Import».

    >> Go Back to Index.

    15. Satisfactory Importing.

If the import license was correct we will see a warning message that indicates this.

    >> Go Back to Index.

    16. Type: NodeLocked.

Now you have to see «IBM Rational Key Administrator» whit the new license on it.

    >> Go Back to Index.

    17. Expiration Date.

Immediately the program will show that the license expires in 15 days.

    >> Go Back to Index.

    18. Running the Program.

Finally we will have our program running properly.

    >> Go Back to Index.

It seems finish, doesn´t it?, but no…. there is still the second part dealing with the installation of Rational Software Architect.

    19. First Steps on RSA.

First you’ll have to download it. You can go the following address http://www14.software.ibm.com/webapp/download/search.jsp?pn=Rational+Software+Architect in which you will obtain 8 results (in the future there may be more). In theory does not matter to chose Rational Software Architect Standard Edition V7.5.4 Evaluation Multilingual Multiplatform (option 1) in which you can use either a Java-based Download Manager or download it directly as a normal file, or, Rational Software Architect Standard Edition 7.5.4 (number 2) that offers the same download system. It is the same, but one is more actual than the other. Notice that in future there may be changes in the versions, or may even have «Fixed versions».

    >> Go Back to Index.

    20. Decompression.

The first thing after the download is unzip the file. If you choose the single file is easy, but if you download the multiple parts (of the same file) we must unpack following the proper structure, that is, not every file anywhere. This is a picture of how the decompression should appear:

    >> Go Back to Index.

    21. OS and Languages.

According to IBM the program is ready to run on almost all platforms and in many languages, namely:

    OS:
Red Hat Entrprs Linux (RHEL) Dsktp, Red Hat Entrprs Linx RHEL Base Srvr, SUSE Linux Enterprise Desktop(SLED), SUSE Linux Enterprise Server (SLES), Windows Server 2003, Windows Server 2008, Windows Vista Business, Windows Vista Enterprise, Windows Vista Ultimate, Windows XP Professional.

    Languages:
Chinese Simplified, Chinese Traditional, English International, French, German, Hungarian, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese Brazilian, Spanish.

    Select the language.

    >> Go Back to Index.

    22. Description.

After reading the description, click Install IBM Rational Software Architect Standard Edition.

    >> Go Back to Index.

    23. Installation Options.

In the resulting window we will have a number of important options such as modifying a previous installation to add features or functions (but not removed) and install updates for installed packages, and of course install the application if we have not done it yet.

    >> Go Back to Index.

    24. Packages to Install.

Obviously, we rely on the assumption that we follow all the steps, so at this point we will not be ask to install the Installation Manager, cause we did it before.

So Installation Manager will open a window to install the program.

    >> Go Back to Index.

    25. Read and Accept the Terms.

Accept the license agreement if you have read and you agree…

    >> Go Back to Index.

    26. Installation Folder.

Select the directory where you want to the application installed.

    >> Go Back to Index.

    27. IDE integration No / Yes.

This part is important because we can install the application in an existing IDE or install your own that contains all the dependencies you need. Keep in mind that if we choose the first option you must be sure that you have installed all the packages that Eclipse needs to work, otherwise it will fail.
Typically we do not want to modify any existing IDE so just click on «Next».

    >> Go Back to Index.

    28. Translations.

You can choose the translations you want, but if you want we can install additional translations later on.

    >> Go Back to Index.

    29. RRP Integration.

This step is important as well because if you want to integrate with Rational RequisitePro RSA you must click on the CheckBox shown in the picture. The rest can be left as they were already (by default).

    >> Go Back to Index.

    30. Configuring the Packages.

We are not interested in adding additional configurations to packages. Then Next.

    >> Go Back to Index.

    31. Installation.

Review the settings you have chosen for the program, with its dependencies, installation directories, etc.. If you agreed, install.

    >> Go Back to Index.

    32. Running the Program.

If there were no errors, you will see the following image. The program may display a window indicating that you do not have installed any version of Microsoft Word installed, which is not absolutely necessary but is recommended if you want to generate certain formats.

    >> Go Back to Index.

    33. Conclusion.

I hope you have enjoy this tutorial. Now «go to manage architectures!» Have fun.

    Greetings.
